Mircea Geoană a declarat la Digi24 că este doar la câteva zile distanță față de momentul în care își va anunța candidatura la alegerile prezidențiale. Actualul secretar general al NATO susține că decizia la nivel personal este luată, însă trebuie întâi să încheie mandatul pe care îl are la NATO pentru a putea intra cu adevărat în cursa prezidențială. De-a lungul timpului au existat zvonuri și ipoteze legate de o candidatură a acestuia la alegerile prezidențiale din acest an, însă acum este pentru prima dată când Mircea Geoană susține că o decizie în acest sens este luată.
„La nivel personal decizia mea este luată, la nivel politic și instituțional, trebuie să respect regula jocului la NATO și anunțul formal și oficial o să îl fac în momentul în care îmi termin mandatul (la NATO) și acest lucru se va termina în perioada imediat următoare”, a spus Mircea Geoană.
Astfel, Mircea Geoană confirmă zvonurile legate de candidatura sa și puncteză că totul stă acum în încheierea mandatului său la NATO.
„Informațiile lor sunt corecte cu privire la apropierea sfârșitului mandatului meu la NATO.
